UK Poker Player Pat Donohue added £75,100 to his bankroll after winning the £1,500 High Roller event at the Grosvenor Poker Goliath series held in Coventry.

Largest Cash Prize in Donohue’s Career

This is the largest cash prize in his poker career so far and it came as a result of the player coming on top of the 200-strong field of entrants that generated a total prize pool of £259,200.

The top 20 finishers shared the prize pool, including the London-based Johnny Kelly with $347,066 in total live earnings, Nottingham’s Rob Boon with $931,473 in total live earnings, Coventry’s Ben Margedze with $407,733 in total live earnings, and Indo-British player Ravi Sheth.

Jacob Bryant didn’t spend a lot of time at the nine-handed final table as his ace-jack fell foul to Yucel Eminoglu flopping two pairs made with king-queen.

Byrant left the table with £6,000 on the ninth position, marking his second Grosvenor final table of 2024.

Leeds-based Jamie O’Connor collected £7,000 and joined Bryant after his pocket tens lost against ace-king.

The High Roller turned into an all-male affair after Candice Nice, fourth in the £2,000 High Roller at GUKPT Manchester, was eliminated.

She finished seventh with £8,300 after committing her stack with a top pair and a flush in her hand against Donohue.

Bobby N“’s king-six for eight big blinds was defeated by Donohue’s superior ace-queen, leading to him exiting the table and banking £10,000.

Donohue went on and boosted his stack by claiming Guy Taylor‘s chips. The latter got his last 14 big blinds into the middle with ace-eight but eventually ran into Donohue’s ace-king and went in fifth, grabbing £14,000.

Eminoglu finished fourth place with £20,000 after his short-stack shove with ace-four was called by Iwan Jones who held ace-ten.

Jones spiked a ten on the river and made two pairs, then proceeded to claim almost all of Dan Laidlaw‘s stack when with ace-queen prevailed against the latter’s pocket tens who banked £30,500, marking the largest score of the career.

Donohue held a sizable lead over Jones while going into heads-up. The latter eventually limped in with four-deuce of hearts and called a raise from Donohue, which he made with ace-three of hearts.

The flop fell queen-nine-five all hearts, causing Donohue to lead and Jones to call. Fast-forward, Jones’ baby flush was second best, forcing him to resign and take home £49,100.

Pat Donohue claimed the £75,100 cash prize for first place, eclipsing his fourth-place finish in 2022 at the 2022 GUKPT London Main Event that brought him a £23,730 prize.
